Walking Breaks
The Woburn Hotel is a short drive from many walking destinations including country parks and nature reserves as well as the famous Dunstable Downs. There are also plenty of walks to enjoy right from the doorstep of the hotel, which incorporate many of the local landmarks such as Woburn Abbey and the Deer Park.
CIRCULAR WALKS AROUND WOBURN
The residents of Woburn have designed 7 circular walks, ranging from 4 to 9 miles in distance. Starting from the car park at the rear of The Woburn hotel, each of the walks is route-marked with white arrows showing the Woburn Walk logo. Some of the walks have views of Woburn Abbey and pass through the deer park. Hard copies of the walks around the village can be picked up from The Woburn Heritage Centre, in the old St Mary’s Church, directly opposite the hotel.
RUSHMERE COUNTRY PARK
Set in 400 acres of woodland, heathland and meadows, Rushmere Country Park offers walks and trails for people of all ages and abilities. These include two Access for All trails as well as specialist cycling, horse riding and dog walking routes. The park sits within The Greensand Ridge Walk: a long-distance walk of 40 miles that crosses Bedfordshire, with brief sections in Cambridgeshire and Buckinghamshire. Rushmere is just a 15 minute drive from The Woburn hotel.
FOREST OF MARSTON VALE – MILLENNIUM COUNTRY PARK
Open 365 days a year, the Millennium Country Park is a multiple Green Flag Award Winner and is home to 225 hectares of woodlands, grasslands, meadows and Wetlands Nature Reserve. The Wetlands Trail is a surfaced, circular route and is approx. 1.2 miles with bird hides and panoramic views across the Vale. It starts on the meadow at the back of the Forest Centre, which offers Bike Hire, a gift shop selling local produce and eco-gifts. There is also a café for refreshments. The Park is located a 20 minute drive from The Woburn hotel.
