Surrounded by 18th listed buildings, the Woburn is also close to some of the country’s finest historical attractions including Wrest Park and Bletchley Park.
WOBURN VILLAGE
The hamlet of Woburn is steeped in history, with records dating back to the 1st Century. The stunning high street buildings have hardly changed since the 1800s and offer many historic insights into the area. The Woburn Heritage Museum, located in the old St Mary’s Church directly opposite the hotel, displays many treasured artifacts. Items donated from Woburn Abbey as well as photos, paintings and memorabilia from more recent times give a great insight into the local area.
WREST PARK
Just a 20 minute drive East from the hotel is Wrest Park. One of English Heritage’s finest properties, the 18th Century house, built in a French chateau style, sits alongside formal gardens restored to their original 17th Century design. The Dairy Sculpture gallery contains restored statues dating back to the 1600s and the Archaeological Collections Store houses unique and special objects spanning 2,000 years of England’s history.
BLETCHLEY PARK
Once the top-secret home of the World War Two Codebreakers, Bletchley Park is now a vibrant heritage attraction. Learn about the extraordinary men and women who played a pivotal role in WWII and discover the mansion and huts that house the Enigma collection and other fascinating exhibits that tell the story of this crucial site in Britain’s history.
WOBURN ABBEY *CLOSED UNTIL 2024
Just a few minutes from the hotel, Woburn Abbey is a 16th century Grade I listed country house and landscaped gardens. Sitting in 3000 acres of ‘deer park’ land, a visit to the house is over three floors with classic rooms showcasing the finest furniture, porcelain and silverware. The Duke of Bedford’s private art collection is world renowned.
